Spotting, 1 May 2006

The exams have finished, everyone's going home and they need a driver to send them to the airport. Enter yours truly, ever willing to drive anyone to the airport to take the opportunity to spot, especially if he pays for the car rental as well.

9.04am - AirAsia's Malaysia jet 9M-AAI spotted departing KCH. Taken after dropping Tong Min off and a good breakfast.




9.08am - 9M-MMS follows AAI into the air moments later



9.11am - Fellow pilot wannabe Mun Chun tagged along to familiarize himself with the way to the airport and got dragged along by me to spot. He slept through all the action thanks to a late night TVB series marathon the day before. Felt kinda guilty leaving him in the stuffy car...not!


9.28am - Tong Min departs on AK's Lat jet, 9M-AAP



9.34am - More 737-400 action. 9M-MMF departs.



9.46am - The one I've been waiting for. Batavia Air's 737-200 PK-YTT with the retro looking JTD9 turbofans and classic bucket reversers arrives 5 minutes late...from Pontianak, I think.



'Jumping the fence' seconds from kissing terra firma.


10.04am - Arrival of the heavy. MH's A330-300 9M-MKC arrives exactly on time. Not a minute more, not a minute less.




10.19am - Batavia Air's 732 departs late even after a quick 1/2 hour turnaround time. Love those noisy little engines!




The smoke coming from the engines gives you an idea how old this 732 really is. My guess? About 20 years.



Final plane of the day before leaving to get Yaw Heng to the airport. Would've loved to capture the A330's departure though. This is 9M-MMV
